McCarthy's Corner - CeeBees beat Clarenville on the road and look to repeat at home this Saturday
This past Saturday night the HGOE CeeBee Stars travelled to Clarenville and left the Eastlink Events Centre with their third win of the season as they downed the Caribous 3-1.  CeeBees captain Jordan Escott scored with just over two minutes left in the first period to open the scoring. CBN Junior Star Kyle Petten continued his strong play with the senior CeeBees scoring at the 7:58  mark of the middle frame. Fellow Junior Star team mates Braedon Carlson and Luke Akerman drew assists on Petten's tally which proved to be the game winning goal. The Caribous'  Chad Earle spoiled Stars' goaltender Riley Akerman's shutout bid by scoring with less than 30 seconds left in the game.  This tally by Clarenville while they had the extra attacker on the ice narrowed the score to 2-1. However that was as close as the Caribous could get as Escott scored his second goal of the game into the empty net to seal the victory for the visiting Stars. CeeBee Stars' goaltender Riley Akerman had a strong game between the pipes turning away 30 of the 31 shots he faced. Next CeeBees' home game is this Saturday Nov. 27 when the Caribous make their first visit of the season to the DCHGCC in Hr. Grace.

At the conclusion of this past weekend's games the Southern Shore Breakers lead the league standings with 11 points, the St. John's Caps are in second with 8 points, the CeeBee Stars hold down third place with 6 points, while the CBS Blues and Clarenville Caribous are tied for fourth place with 2 points each.
