CeeBees down Eagles 4-2 in Game 3, take 2-1 series lead

(Mar. 5, 2017) -- The Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprises CeeBee Stars took a 2-1 lead over the Tapper's Northeast Eagles in the best-of-seven Avalon East Senior Hockey League championship series with a 4-2 win in Game 3 on Saturday night. At the Danny Cleary Community Centre in Harbour Grace, Brett Shute scored the winner about six minutes into the second and added an insurance marker three minutes later to lead the CeeBees. Matthew Thomey and Kenny King staked the CeeBees to a 2-1 first-period lead. Mark Chaplin and Matt Squires replied for the Eagles. In net, A.J. Whiffen had 25 saves for the win while Mark Yetman stopped 31 of 35. Game 4 goes next Friday at the Jack Byrne Arena in Torbay. Puck drop is 8 p.m.
