Eagles pull ahead in semifinal vs. Breakers: Northeast win 5-2 on Friday night

(Feb. 10, 2017) -- The Tapper's Northeast Eagles took a 2-1 lead in their best-of-seven Avalon East Senior Hockey League semifinal against the Puglisevich Southern Shore Breakers with a 5-2 win in Game 2 on Friday night. At the Jack Byrne Arena, Chris Thorne had a goal and two helpers while Sean Wadden and Bryan Clarke had two assists each. Chris Mooney, Steve Yetman, Dan Cadigan, and Andrew Temple also dented twine for the Eagles. The Breakers' Scott McCarthy and Andrew Marshall scored in the third period to spoil Mark Yetman's bid for a shutout. The goalie finished with 28 saves. Mark Power faced 41 shots in the Shore's blue ice. Game 3 is set for Sunday evening, 7 p.m., at the Southern Shore Arena in Mobile. On Saturday, the Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprises CeeBee Stars play host to the St. John's Green Sleeves Caps in Game 3 of their semifinal. The series is tied at a game apiece.
