Dalton hat trick leads Breakers to sixth straight; CeeBees take down Eagles

(Dec. 3, 2016) -- Ray Dalton had an impressive return to the Avalon East Senior Hockey League Friday night, recording a hat trick to lead the Puglisevich Southern Shore Breakers past the Hickman Chrysler Bell Island Blues 6-2. Also on Friday, the Harbour Grace Ocean Enterprises CeeBee Stars' Matthew Thomey scored twice in a 3-1 win over visiting Tapper's Northeast Eagles. At the Conception Bay South Arena in Kelligrews, Mike Chafe potted a pair for the Breakers (9-4-0, 18 pts) and Daniel Dalton added one. Stephen Oates had assists on two of Dalton's markers. Ben Goss stopped 32 of 34 shots for the win. Ian Skinner scored twice in his debut with the Blues (4-9-0, 8 pts) who hit the ice with just 12 skaters. Matt Jenkins started in net but was pulled at 14:17 of the third after allowing four goals on 12 shots. He was replaced by Evan Giles who faced another 45 shots in his first taste of action this season. The win was the Breakers' sixth straight. At the Danny Cleary Community Centre in Harbour Grace, the CeeBees (10-1-1, 21 pts) got an insurance marker from Stephen Greeley to secure a third straight win and A.J. Whiffen made 22 stops. Matt Horan had the Eagles' (4-6-2, 10 pts) lone goal and Mark Yetman turned aside 24 of 27. League play resumes Monday night, 8:30, when the CeeBees head to Goulds Sports Arena to take on the St. John's Green Sleeves Caps (4-6-2, 10 pts)
